Jacob “Jake” Cassara

Jacob (Jake) Cassara a life time resident of New Rochelle, passed away surrounded by his family. Jake was the son of Jacob and Mary Cassara and was born September 21, 1934, he was 88 years old.
Jake was married to Joan Bombace Cassara for over 50 years. Joan passed away in 2017. Jake was one of New Rochelle’s originals. Jake was born and raised in West New Rochelle, where he was a proud member of the community. He was the President of the Old Timers Association at the Feeney Park Boys Club, he was a proud member of Local 137 Operating Engineers, and a dedicated parishioner at Saint Joseph’s Church. Jake grew up with the love of sports, a great athlete throughout his life. He was a big fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants, NY Rangers and NY knicks. When his teams were playing, Jake was watching and screaming at the TV. If you were from New Rochelle you knew Jake, whether he was at McDonald’s for his morning coffee, Davenport Park, Posto 22 and his favorite spot was Sal’s Pizza on Quaker Ridge. But one thing for sure, he was always surrounded by his many friends who loved him. Jake was also a dad and a grandfather. He was the dad to Gina Nardella (Lou) & Jackie Grasso. He was the grandfather (Pop) to Jake Nardella, Anthony Grasso and Alexandra Giron (Martin).
One thing we know for sure, his girl was waiting for him. All he wanted was to be back with his wife, Joan. Jake will be missed by many, especially his daughters and grandchildren.

Visiting will be on Thursday 4-8pm at Sisto and Paino Funeral Home Inc. 16 Shea Place New Rochelle, NY 10805. A mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday 10am at St. Joseph’s Church followed by a burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
