Sara (Amato) Sgro, a longtime resident of New Rochelle died peacefully on February 2, 2023. She was 94.

Sara was born on February 15, 1928 in Gagliato, Catanzaro, Italy to the late Ciro and Maria (Pitaro) Amato.

Her Strong Italian traditions were best expressed through her love of cooking, and her greatest joy was sharing that with the people she loved.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Antonio Sgro, whom she married on December 1, 1946.

Sara is survived by her son Salvatore (Marie) Sgro, her daughter Vittoria (Vito) Gallello, her grandchildren Angela Anna (Bob), Pearson, Sara Marie (Tommy) Febbraio, Salvatore (Jennifer) Gallello, and Christina Anne Kocaj.

She also cherished her 11 great-grandchildren Adam, Vittoria, Jillian, Julianna, Alyssa, Malena, Vito, Nicholas, Martina, Lenora, and Lidia.
