Angelina Serraino

Angelina Helen (Cosentino) Serraino, a proud lifelong resident of New Rochelle, New York, passed away at age 86 on Sunday, November 13th at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. Angelina, affectionately known as “Honey” by many close to her, was born on December 5th, 1935 to Alfred and Anna (Popson) Cosentino. She spent a wonderful childhood in the West End section of New Rochelle, and attended St. Joseph’s school and St. Gabriel’s High School. On weekly trips to the market where he worked, she met and dated Amedeo Serraino, whom she married in 1957. They were happily married for 58 years before Amedeo ‘s passing in 2015. Angelina is predeceased by Amedeo, as well as her parents Alfred and Anna Cosentino, her sisters Barbara Cosentino and Anne Cosentino Jordan and brother Ralph “Buddy” Cosentino, all of whom were residents of New Rochelle.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at Woolworth’s & Neptune Furniture and also worked at the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce. She was a dedicated homemaker and wife, a wonderful mother to her three children, and was the epitome of everything a loving grandmother should ever be.
She enjoyed cooking both Italian and Slovak cuisine, and baking Christmas cookies, pizzelles, and cheesecake for her family to enjoy. She loved decorating for all of the holidays and spending quality time with her family. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed trips to local casinos. She loved to spend time with her good friends dining out and had a great relationship with a weekly “Card Club” where they shared food and fun, amazingly for over 50 years.
Angelina is survived by her three children and their families – Philip Serraino and his wife Phyllis of Thornwood, Regina Nardozzi and her husband Anthony of Poughkeepsie, and Paul Serraino and his wife Carmela of Crestwood. Angelina is also survived by her four grandchildren – Krystine and spouse Anthony, Christopher, Francesca, and Carlo along with her sister-in-law Maria Cosentino of Florida and brother-in-law David O. Jordan of New Rochelle, and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
