Joseph DiPietro

Joseph DiPietro

Joseph DiPietro, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on October 7, 2022 at the age of 100. A longtime resident of New Rochelle, NY and Jupiter, FL, Joseph emigrated from Guardia Lombardi, Italy, as a young boy to join his father here, who was establishing residence in the United States for his family. Joseph and his father started their own contracting business, which Joseph continued to actively and independently manage until his dying day.

Joseph was often described as a true gentleman, and was admired by people of all walks of life for that genuine quality. He always maintained a positive personality and even disposition in all matters consistently throughout life. He enjoyed people and would readily offer a smile or share a laugh. Above all, he was devoted to his wife, Connie, and to his entire family.

Joseph had many interests, including beekeeping, card-playing, dancing, antique cars, hunting, the Yankees, coin collecting, gardening, storytelling, traveling, and golf. He was adept at working with tenacious skill and patience at tasks and in business. He studied landscape design at Farmingdale State College. He was a very proud and active 82-year member and former President of the Guardia Lombardi Society, an organization that represented his birth town. He and Connie traveled extensively, and visited 25 countries together, yet some of his favorite memories were of traveling throughout the United States. Joseph held a life-long pride and patriotism for his country.

His greatest joy of all was spending time with his wife, Connie, and their fondness for each other never dulled. Their love and respect for each other for their 73 years of marriage was beautiful and remarkable. He treasured his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Joseph’s beautiful smile, mild manner, and lovable personality will always be remembered. He is survived by his loving family, including daughter, Maria Massimi, and her husband, Frank; daughter-in-law, Mary-Lynne DiPietro; grandsons, Joseph and Stephen DiPietro; Robert Massimi, his wife, Nora, and their children, Grant and Hayes; Stephen Massimi, M.D., his wife Nicole, and their children, Juliette and Matthew; by his brothers, Adam and Angelo, as well as in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He leaves behind his good friends in Florida, whom he greatly loved, admired, and respected.

He was predeceased by his adored wife, Concetta “Connie”, by his son, Joseph A. DiPietro, M.D., and by his sister, Delia. He was the son of Antonio and Maria Grazia DiPietro.

He and his wife Connie were communicants of St. Catherine’s Church in Pelham for 73 years.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Funeral Home in New Rochelle, N.Y., followed by a funeral Mass on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church, in Pelham, N.Y.
