James A. Jackson (Jim) was a lifelong resident of New Rochelle. He was predeceased by his parents Josephine (Fredericks) and James Jackson, and wife of 63 years Marie Chimento.
Marie and Jim created a beautiful family; Peter (Kathy) Jackson, Kathy (Rick) VanBuren, and a very special Jimmy Jackson. Peter and Kathy have three amazing sons; Jeff, Danny, and Marty, and Marc Gocman a forever family friend.
There are five delightful great-grandchildren; Amanda, Patrick, Brady, Rileigh Rose Jackson, and Derek, all of whom he was very proud. He is also leaving behind a beloved niece AnnMarie (Chimento) Fourneir and her husband Jon and family.
Jim proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunner’s Mate Seaman in both WWII and Korea.
Jim was a dedicated family man, easygoing, and always had a solution and a smile. He owned several taxi cabs, dispatched, and was President of Bluebird Taxi Corporation for many years.
In retirement he drove a school bus part-time. He titled himself, “Million Mile Man,” and, “Mr. Transportation.” He loved golf, horse racing, and hopes the Buffalo Bills will take the season.
He will surely be missed.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to The Arc of Westchester, 265 Saw Mill River Rd. Hawthorne, NY 10532, for the care and compassion given to Jimmy Jr. over many years.
