Peter Monteleone

Peter Monteleone

Peter Monteleone, 58, of Yorktown Heights, died Tuesday, July 19 at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.

Peter was born in New Rochelle, NY, on July 17, 1964, son of Frank and Jean (Bryson) Monteleone. After high school, he served his country in the US Navy as an aviation mechanic aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. Peter had a strong, old-fashioned sense of values and believed in always doing what was right. A mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, Peter won a Hero of the Year Award from the National Association of Letter Carriers for saving a woman and her young daughter during his appointed rounds by detaining an armed burglar who had invaded their home.

Above all, Peter was a family man who treasured spending time with his wife and children. With a big smile and ready laugh, he was a voice for kindness, respect, and tradition not only for his two sons but also for his entire extended family. His warmth and generosity of spirit made life better for all who knew him.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of twenty-eight years, Alyssa; his two sons, Frank and Matteo; his parents; and countless other family members and friends who will hold his memory close to their hearts always
