Joseph Schiavone

Joseph Schiavone, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on July 7, 2022. He was 87.
Joseph was born on November 20, 1934 in Pizzo Calabria, Italy to the late Antonio and Josephine (Marchese) Schiavone. In 1955, he came to the United States of America, and made it his home. Joseph worked for over 25 years as a tool and die maker at Gries Manufacturing in New Rochelle. He later then changed trades and worked for many years as a Union Carpenter for Local 350.
Joseph enjoyed going to Glen Island Park, working in the yard, watching Italian Movies and spending time with his family (“Sette e Mezzo!”).

On December 12, 2011, Joseph married his second wife Domenica (Mondelli) Crocitto ,who survives him.

His first wife, Rosalie Schiavone predeceased him on February 3, 2003.

Joseph is survived by his two children : Gwen ( Victor) Cristiano; Anthony (Julia )Schiavone; 2 grandsons: Victor Cristiano and Joseph Schiavone; 7 brothers and sisters: George (Maria)Schiavone; Caterina ( Antonio) Febbraro; Angelina Schiavone; Antoinette Gallo; Maria (Pino) D’Erasmo, Stella ( Ira) Edelblum; Teresa Schiavone.
Visiting will be Tuesday 4-8 at Lloyd Maxcy’s. 16 Shea Pl., New Rochelle. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday 10:30am at Holy Family Church . In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital is preferred.
