Our beloved Mother, Sonya Bradoc entered into eternal rest on April 27, 2022. She was a woman who loved with her whole heart. A first generation child of Greek immigrants, she carried within her always the ancient Greeks’ thirst for knowledge. A fine student herself, she became a dedicated elementary school teacher to her own students.
In 1949, she married Keith Bradoc who was to become an educator also. Sonya had three children, Tracey, Keith (Tony) and Melanie. In the mid-sixties, she returned to the teaching profession. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in reading and learning disabilities. She became an early diagnostician of dyslexia in children. Sonya loved opening the doors of language and books to children. She was also an adjunct college professor specializing in the teaching of and diagnosing of L.D. (learning disabilities) and reading skills to a new generation of teachers.
Sonya was always a prolific writer. She wrote children’s books, plays, memoirs and novels. One of her plays was produced off-Broadway.
First, last and always, Sonya was a devoted wife and mother. Her three children’s love for her parallels her immense love for them. Forever she will be our precious angelic Mother.
Sonya Bradoc is survived by her daughters Tracey and Melanie Bradoc, her son Keith (Tony) Bradoc, her daughter-in-law Terita Bradoc, her sister Mary Galanakis, brother-in-law Dennis Galanakis as well as a host of beloved family members
