Augustina “Tootsie” Corbo, the widow of Vito D. Corbo, was born July 3, 1927, died comfortably in her sleep on March 14, 2022.
Tootsie worked at Columbus School as a secretary for over 30 years. After retirement, she volunteered at New Rochelle Hospital being awarded “Volunteer of the Year” and receiving other prestigious recognitions. She moved to New Jersey where she continued giving of herself by reading to mentally challenged adults. She worked the voting polls yearly and was active in local politics.
Also known as “Augie,” in her younger years, loved roller skating and dancing. She later turned to reading, crossword puzzles, classic movies, and the occasional nip of Bailey’s Irish Cream.
Augustina is survived by her daughter, Mary-Ann Gugliemella, husband Joe; son, Vito Corbo Jr, wife Stefanie; daughter Nancy Corbo; two granddaughters Cara Gugliemella, husband Paul Jenkin; Erica Gugliemella and rescued kitty Amber.
Tootsie will be remembered for her fierce love of family and friends; her generosity; her constant smile and being a great listener.
We all hope she is doing the lindy hop in heaven right now.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
