Anne V. Eodice was born on December 11, 1927 in Succasunna, NJ to John and Katherine (Nero) Ditria. She grew up in Paterson, NJ and spent her married life in Clifton, NJ, where she and her husband, Ralph A. Eodice, raised their son Alex and enjoyed 59 years together. After Ralph’s passing in 2012, she moved to New Rochelle, NY to live with Alex and his family. From March 2020 and through the COVID pandemic, she was a resident at the United Hebrew Geriatric home in New Rochelle, where she passed peacefully on March 18, 2022.
Anne’s career as a nurse and health educator spanned nearly fifty years. After graduating from high school at the age of sixteen, she entered nursing school and became a registered nurse. She worked first as an OR nurse and then as a visiting public health nurse for the Paterson Board of Health. In 1964, she was appointed as School Nurse for Clifton High School where she worked until her retirement in 1992. She earned her teaching degree from then Jersey City State Teachers College and was also appointed as a health teacher. She loved teaching and was especially proud of having developed a model curriculum for Health Professional Occupations that was implemented at Clifton H.S. and other schools throughout the state of New Jersey. She was certified as an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor and for many years organized a blood donation program for the New Jersey State Red Cross. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with students, serving as senior class moderator, health professions advisor, or prom chaperon. During her career, she earned many citations for professional service and teaching excellence.
Anne lived a beautiful life. She was enormously energetic, intelligent, witty, and particularly loving, kind, and generous. She and Ralph loved to travel but they especially enjoyed the company of friends and family. She loved to paint, crochet, and solve crosswords. And she was an exceptionally good cook whose meatballs are legendary. More than anything else, she dedicated herself to her family as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Anne is predeceased by her sisters Nancy (CeCe) and Toni (Luckett) and is survived by her son Alex and his wife Liz, her granddaughters Sarah Baron (Herman) and Annie Landers (Vaden), and great-grandchildren Tanner Baron, Eden Baron, and Birdie Mae Landers.
She will be sorely missed by her family, her many friends, and all who knew her.
