The daughter of Francesca Blasi (Fato) and Michele Blasi, Alba Nicoletta Aiello was born on September 10, 1933 in San Fili, located in Calabria, Italy. She moved to New Rochelle where she raised her family and became a successful seamstress for several businesses, including her own. Alba is predeceased by her husband Frank Aiello and her daughter, Donna Aiello. She is survived by her daughter, Denise Sangirardi and her son, Dominick Aiello. She also has two granddaughters, Stephanie Albanese and Samantha Aiello. In addition, Alba has 3 great-grandchildren, Sofia, (9), Giulia (7), and Angelo (15 months). She is also survived by her sister Maria (Ugo) Gentile, Peter (Lia) Blasi, Frank (Ellen) Blasi, and John (Denise) Blasi and predeceased by her brother, Henry Blasi.
Alba was the epitome of hard work, sacrifice, dedication, and determination. She endured many hardships, but Alba still lived life to the fullest and loved those dear to her heart. Moreover, Alba loved walking, cooking, baking Italian desserts for the holidays, and also spending time with her family. She also loved to play cards and sew. Sewing and dressmaking were her passions and livelihood, and she put those passions to use every day by working in her store and making and tailoring clothes for her family.
She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Her love for family and friends and her will to survive will never be forgotten. RIP.
Her wake will be held at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons funeral home on Saturday, February 12th from 3-7pm. There will be a funeral mass on Monday, February 14th at 10:30 at Holy Name of Jesus Church in New Rochelle. The burial will take place at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale immediately after.
