Filomena Ricapito, a long time resident of New Rochelle, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2022 with her daughter, Silvana at her side. She was 92 and predeceased by her husband Angelo,daughter Magda, and brother Paul Cervone (Anne Marie). Filomena is survived by her loving children, Silvana Ricapito (Wayne) and Aldo Ricapito, sister Dea Di Tomasso (Gianni), brother Dr. Anthony Cervone (Nancy), grandsons Joseph Nardozzi (Alyson) and Robert Ricapito, step granddaughters Emily and Sophey Dewell, and great grandchildren Carys, Michael, Joseph, Ava, and Stefani Nardozzi and Violet O’Hearn.
Filomena was born in Giovinazzo, Bari, Italy to Elena Palmiotto and Vito Antonio Cervone. She emigrated to the US in 1950 where she lived with relatives in Brooklyn and worked in Manhattan in the garment industry. There she met her husband Angelo and settled in New Rochelle.
Filomena was an ebullient and outgoing person who loved meeting people and bowling with the Blessed Sacrament bowling league. She enjoyed traveling to her hometown and to Florida to visit family. She was an excellent hostess and loved entertaining family over the holidays. She was an amazing and unselfish mother, always caring for her children before herself.
Filomena was adored by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
