Antonietta Ruta passed away peacefully in her home of nearly 40 years in New Rochelle, NY on January 15, 2022, at the age of 71. She was born March 7, 1950 in Caserta, Italy to Pasqualina and Francesco Funaro. Antonietta met her love Silvio Ruta at a café in Switzerland. They were married in September 1966 in Italy before venturing to America where they would start their family. She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings Silvio, Rosetta and Angelina.
Antonietta was a loving wife and cherished friend. A dedicated mother first and foremost, she treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She loved to love on people. Her hands were rarely still as she shared her love with foods like her delicious Sunday sauce, delectable Christmas cookies and so much more.
For many years Antonietta served as Chef at the Holy Name Convent. It suited her servant heart. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32- “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgive one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Antonietta is survived by her son Dominick Ruta (Carol) and daughters Luisa Ravitch (Jason) and Angela Ruta (Lonnie); grandchildren Alissa and Anthony Ravitch (Luisa) and Vincent Coleman (Angela); her brother-in-law and wife Frank and Susan Ruta and their sons Frank Ruta (Carolyn) and Michael Ruta. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
