Grace (Babe) Macchia passed away on September 29, 2021 at New Rochelle Hospital. She was 83 years old.
She was born in New Rochelle June 21, 1938. “Babe” Tedesco attended local schools. She graduated from St.Joseph’s Elementary, St. Gabriel’s High School, and the Grace Institute.
Grace worked many years for both the Pepsi Cola Company and Drew Industries Corporation as a bookkeeper/accountant.
She met her husband, John Macchia, at Pepsi Cola Company where both were employed. Babe married John at St. Joseph’s Church in New Rochelle. The marriage lasted over 50 years until her death.
Grace and John spent 27 years in retirement in New Port Richey. Florida. There she enjoyed the many activities of the Club House and served the community as Condominium President and as Internal Auditor of the Master Association. She became a great fan of Billy Joel, constantly playing his disks and attending his concerts whenever he was in town. Grace also enjoyed taking bus trips to Biloxi and Tampa casinos. She attended church regularly and especially looked forward going to Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas where the music was upbeat and contemporary.
She recently moved back to New Rochelle to live with her niece and nephew, Lynn and George Solano. Although she had no children of her own, Grace wanted to be close to share the love and affection of three generations of nieces and nephews located in the Westchester area.
Babe Macchia is survived by her husband and the many nieces, nephews and cousins in the Macchia, Tedesco and Solano families.
