Albert J. Knipling

Albert J. Knipling, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died October 24th 2021. He was 98. Albert was born on August 7th 1923 and lived a full and meaningful life. His Service to our country and his dedication to his family will never be forgotten.

Albert served in The United States Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres during World War 2 on the USS Massachusetts. He also served The Korean War. His time on the Massachusetts shaped him and was always his pride until the very end.

On May 2, 1948 Albert married his high school sweetheart Janet French. They had four children and never left their beloved New Rochelle. They were parted in death after 64 years of marriage in 2012.

After serving our country Albert served his community as a letter carrier for 39 years in his hometown of New Rochelle. His pride for his job continued to shine through years after he retired as he recounted his routes and all the people he had the pleasure of knowing. He was very active in both The Boy Scouts of America and The Girl Scouts of America when his boys were young. After retiring from the post office he worked for a school bus company ensuring the safety and happiness of every child who got on his bus. Albert finally retired in his 70s. He loved being a grandpa and Great-Grandpa more then life itself. His joy came from seeing their smiling faces and hearing their laughs. Right up to the end his happy place was just holding his great-grandsons hand.

Albert was predeceased by his wife Janet, their son Thomas and his sisters Katherine and Violet Gamache. He is survived by their sons Albert and his wife Karen, Robert Knipling and his wife Dawn and Timothy Knipling; Granddaughters Christina DeQuatro and her husband Chris and Emily Knipling, Donovan Dryman; and Greatgrandchildren Ryder and Oliver Dequatro, and Lilly and Parker Drymon.
