Afrodite Kaklamanakis passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, and joined her husband, John, in Heaven on September 2, 2021 at age 95. She was born on June 15, 1926 in a small village in the Peloponnese area of Greece. Afrodite married John Kaklamanakis, also from the same village, who predeceased her in 2002 at the age of 80. Afrodite followed her husband to the United States in 1960 with their three children, and she had three more children in the ensuing years. She embraced her new country and proudly became a United States citizen in 1969. However, she never forgot her Greek roots and traveled back to Greece frequently, and made her last trip at age 86. Afrodite and John built a beautiful home over 30 years ago in Greece overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by their olive, fig, lemon, orange, peach and pomegranate trees and a variety of grapes. Whenever she opened the gate to their home in Greece she always said she felt that she was entering paradise. Afrodite was an amazing cook and baker, often making Greek dishes and delicacies to the delight and enjoyment of her family. Gardening was also a passion of hers and she had an extraordinary green thumb. She showcased the front of her home in New Rochelle with a multitude of flowers, colors and fragrances. She is survived by her six children: Helen (Gondek), Anthoula, Peter, Maria (Tomaselli), George and Chris; five grandchildren, Peter and John Gondek, Stephen, Nicholas and John Tomaselli and two great grandchildren, Jacob and Arianna Gondek. We will miss her laughter, great cooking, smiling crystal blue eyes and loving presence in our lives. She will forever be in our hearts and thoughts. Rest in Peace.
