Michael C. Stickley

Michael C. Stickley

Michael C. Stickley, a lifetime resident of Yonkers, passed away July 31st, 2021. Michael was born in White Plains, NY on January 23rd, 1984. The son of Larraine and the late Michael J. Stickley.

From an early age Michael was boisterous and full of life. He was gentle as he was strong.

As a young boy, he was adventurous, courageous, running everywhere at full speed just to show those behind him how it’s done. Michael loved nature and the outdoors. Some of his fondest memories were camping in the Adirondack mountains with his best friend where he learned how to set up camp, shoot guns (safely of course) and bond over a fire he helped build.

When Michael grew older, he was affectionally known by his friends as Mikey YO. Michael had a love for the night life and usually was the last person to leave the dance floor. Michael loved to be surrounded by his friends as they were already planning their next adventure. Michael’s great passion was sharing his love for music which brought joy, tears, and pleasure to everyone’s ears.

One of Michael’s greatest joys was being a thoughtful and caring uncle to Giovanni and Monica. Michael had the privilege of watching his nephew, Giovanni, grow up to be an intelligent, hardworking, and strong young man. Michael also proudly watched his niece, Monica, grow up to be young promising artist while attending Pratt Institute.

Michael was extremely close to his mother, Larraine, and was deeply appreciative of all the sacrifices she made for both himself and his sister. Michael’s appreciation was evident in the way he supported and unconditionally cared for his mother.

Above all else, Michael’s greatest love was Jennifer whom he met 18 years ago. Anyone who knew Michael can attest that he would always slip Jennifer into a conversation. Michael and Jennifer had a unique love and bond. Michael would always remind Jennifer “What’s miraculous isn’t that we found each other, like two asteroids tumbling through time and space. The real marvel is that once found, we chose each other.” Michael and Jennifer were inseparable and jumped at every chance to experience life and all it had to offer. Secretly, Michael and Jennifer were avid Harry Potter fans. Of course, Michael was Gryffindor and he declared Jennifer Ravenclaw. Even being in separate Hogwarts Houses, nothing could sever their bond.

Michael is survived by his loving mother Larraine {Arruda} his cherished sister Tracy, who wished the best for her younger brother also his beloved Aunt Janet and his cousin Lisa, his nephew Giovanni, his niece Monica, his goddaughter, Sofia, and his brother-in-law Keith, also the love of his life, Jennifer.

Last but not least, Michael shared two beautiful dogs, Bella and Sophie, with Jennifer. Many know that just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge where animals that have been especially close to someone go after they pass. There is no doubt that Michael has been greeted with loving kisses and wagging tails as he crosses over the Rainbow Bridge.
