Charles Immucci, age 74, died peacefully on Sunday, August 22, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 1, 1946, in New Rochelle, New York, and resided in Tequesta, Florida, for the last thirty-one years. Charles was born and raised in New Rochelle, New York, to Marie (Sis) and Sam Immucci. He is pre-deceased by his parents as well as his beloved wife, Regina, to whom he was married for over fifty years. He is survived by his three daughters: Christine (Andy) Mercier; Victoria (Troy) Tait; and Gina (Josh) Gaccione, as well as his nine cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lucille (Michael) McDowell, many cousins and good friends. He had it all – family, life-long friends, and a house where you were always welcome for meatballs and a dish of “macs,” covered in his home-made gravy.
Charles attended Blessed Sacrament Schools through ninth grade. He went on to graduate from New Rochelle High School in 1964. After high school he enlisted in the service where he proudly served our country as a United States Marine.
Charles was a hard worker and held many jobs from the time he was twelve years old. He was a paper boy for the Standard Star, collecting many tips from the neighbors on Allard Avenue who adored him. He went on to work for Sam Macri fixing cars, Singer Sewing Machine, and Neptune Furniture Store. He was a man for whom no job was too hard or too small. He then went on to work with his father-in-law, Ben Zarrilli, at Redwood Nursery in Larchmont, NY, where he referred to himself as “just a simple gardener.” He eventually became part owner in the business, helping to bring it much success. In 1992, upon his retirement, he relocated with his family to Tequesta, Florida. There he bought and sold 53 properties over the course of several years, just to keep busy. He was a true entrepreneur.
For relaxation, Charles spent his time enjoying various activities. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed traveling to various sites to play. One of his favorite memories was playing St. Andrew’s in Scotland. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and listening to his jukebox. In addition, he and his wife, Jean, spent many a fun-time gaming at the Hard Rock Casino. However, of all his activities, none gave him greater pleasure than spending time with his grandchildren.
Anyone who knew Charles was surrounded by his love and generosity. He had a big heart and a beautiful smile which were shared with everybody. We were all blessed to have known him.
A visitation will be held at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle, NY 10805 on Friday, August 27, 2021, from 9:00 – 10:30 AM. A funeral mass will take place immediately following at Blessed Sacrament Church. A private burial will be held thereafter. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be most appreciated.
