Patricia “Patty” Donnelly Macera passed away on February 5, 2021, at the age of 97. At the time of her death, she was living in Concord, NC, but had moved with her husband from New York in 2012 and settled in Charlotte, NC. She was born on March 31, 1923, in Larchmont, New York, to the late James Donnelly and Elizabeth Neville. She attended New Rochelle schools, including New Rochelle High School.
Pat married her husband, Vincenzo Alexander “Jimmy” Macera on February 14, 1942, and they made their home in New Rochelle, NY. She was a homemaker and raised four children. She worked with her husband at Wykagyl Market, a fruit, vegetable and gourmet business they owned in New Rochelle, NY, for over 40 years. She enjoyed cooking, reading, theatre and music, walking and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, James Alexander Macera of Charlotte, NC, who died on July 15, 2014, and by her beloved son, James Alexander Macera Jr. of New Rochelle, NY, in 1997. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Donnelly and sisters, Jeanne Schultz and Maureen Hicks. Her death preceded her son-in-law’s, Roderick McLeod, who passed away on May 7, 2021.
She is survived by her dearly loved children, Jeanne McLeod (Roderick) of Huntersville, NC, Lindsay Piscitello and husband, Carl, of Concord, NC, and Lisa Sandhaus and husband, Craig, of Huntersville, NC. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Church, 74 Petersville, Rd., New Rochelle, NY, at 10:00 am on Monday, June 14, 2021. A memorial service will follow at Lloyd Maxcy Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her name to Alzheimer’s Association: https://www.alz.org/.
