Dennis Paul Tortorella

Dennis Paul Tortorella, beloved husband, father, and Papa, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 4th, 2021.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years Maria Elisabete Tortorella, Cos Cob, CT.; his son Paul Dennis Tortorella, and his wife Maria Tortorella of Westport, CT; his son Christopher Scott Tortorella and his wife Lynsey Tortorella of New Rochelle, NY; his brother, Carl Tortorella, Jr. and his wife Priscilla Tortorella, Larchmont, NY; his brother Richard Tortorella and his wife Ann Sharon Tortorella, Somers, NY; and his beloved grandchildren, Katelyn, Malena, Harper, Evelina and Calder. Dennis was preceded in death by his mother Josephine Tortorella and his father Carl J. Tortorella, Sr.
Dennis was born on July 15th, 1945 in New Rochelle, NY. He was drafted into the US Army to serve his country in Vietnam and he did so with pride and quiet distinction. After the war he started work at vinyl record producer The Longines Symphonette in the Town of Mamaroneck’s Clocktower building and while working there in 1971 he met the love of his life and they were married in 1973. He then started in the family plumbing business alongside his brother Richard and father at I & T Plumbing and Heating. That business was started by his father and later became Sound Shore Contracting. Dennis worked slowly and methodically to ensure the work was done right, always humming to himself as he worked. He also served his community in the other family business as a member of the Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department for over 50 years and served actively for 51.5 years achieving the rank of Captain of Engine Company 37. The Department then honored Dennis’s lifelong contribution awarding him the rank of Honorary Chief. Above all that he was a massive supporter of his children and grandkids academic and athletic achievements. Rarely missing a game, recital or concert no matter if the event were being held in the Town of Mamaroneck, or as far away as Plymouth, NH. Dennis could be found banging on the glass or sitting front row clapping or cheering them on.
Services will be held Friday May 7th 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel (16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle, NY 10801) in New Rochelle.
