Josephine Friscia

Josephine Friscia died peacefully at home on Wed, Jan 27th at the age of 90. Josephine lived her entire life in New Rochelle and was a long-time parishioner of Holy Family Church.
Josephine married Joseph Friscia on Oct 20, 1951 after meeting him at the age of twelve. Together they had five children and a long, happy marriage of 64 years.
Josephine had many jobs throughout her lifetime but especially enjoyed working at Macy’s where she made lifelong friends and had many good times.
After retirement Jo and Joe spent winters in Myrtle Beach where they enjoyed playing golf and playing Trivial Pursuit with their “winter” friends.
Josephine enjoyed painting, ceramics, crime shows and did the NY Times Crossword puzzle every morning.
Josephine’s most treasured job was being a mother. She loved her children and always encouraged them to do their best while always remembering to be kind to others. In her later years she relished times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and shared many special moments with them.
In her last few years Josephine was blessed with a wonderful aide Mary whom she loved as well as many dear friends and neighbors. During the pandemic both friends and neighbors were very supportive checking in to say hello, offering to lend a hand and keeping her spirits up so she always felt engaged and not isolated. The entire Friscia family thanks all for the kindness and love extended to our Mom.
Josephine was predeceased by her husband Joe, her sisters Phyllis, Ann and Mary, and her brother Dominic. She is survived by her children Nancy (John), Joseph (Adam), Kathy (John), William (Julie), Robert (Cathy), her grandchildren Nicole, Heather, Joseph, Connor, Kyle, Kate, Amanda, Kimberly, Gardner, Cameron, Catalina, her great grandchildren Omar, Iman, Ali and Lily and her sister, Antionette Galanek.
Because of Covid a memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate her life. Donations can be made in Josephine’s name to : Caring for the Hungry & Homeless of Peekskill ( CHHOP) 200 Water Street, Peekskill, NY 10567
