Neil Matthew Kroning, a resident of New Rochelle, was called home on October 23, 2020. He was born on July 28, 1970 to the late Charles and Marilyn (Hocking) Kroning. He was predeceased by his 2 loving brothers, Harold C. Kroning and Gregory S. Kroning.
Neil attended Holy Family School, Iona Preparatory and graduated from Iona College with a degree in Business Economics.
He held various positions throughout his career, including Insurance Broker and managing sales and marketing for a startup company.
He was an avid sports fan, relishing football season and the World Cup playoffs. He studied martial arts, namely Kumite, for a number of years. Neil looked forward to road trips and spending time outdoors. One of his favorite destinations was the lake at Fahnestock State Park in Carmel. It was also not unusual to find Neil outside landscaping the yard or relaxing with his book of choice.
He loved animals and took in a feral cat, who would become his faithful and beloved companion.
His other interests included writing, learning new languages (for which he had a working knowledge of several), and playing the piano and acoustic guitar.
Family and friends will remember Neil’s sense of humor, his constant willingness to offer a kind word or lend a compassionate ear, and that he was a warm person to be around.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted fiance, Valerie Venuti; and loving nieces Kelsey and Lindsey Kroning.
A memorial mass is scheduled for Saturday, November 14 at 10:30 am at Holy Family Church. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society or to The Wounded Warrior Project.
