Louise Barrella

Louise Fodero Barrella, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 after a brief illness.
Louise was born in New Rochelle, NY on September 7, 1926, to the late Frank and Jennie Fodero. She lived in the same house in New Rochelle for all 94 years of her life. Louise was a graduate of Albert Leonard High School in New Rochelle.
Louise cherished her husband of 65 years the late Anthony Joseph Barrella whom she married on August 29, 1948, and their children, Nicholas (Susan) Barrella, Michael (Karen) Barrella and Joann (John) Bombace. Louise, known to them as “Nanny” is also survived by her six grandchildren, Alexandra, Liz, Matthew, Johnny, Michael and Heather. She is survived by her older brother Vincent (Virginia) Fodero. Her younger brother Frank (Helen) passed away in 2019. Louise also loved her nieces and nephews Joseph, Gail and Russell Barrella, Suzanne, Patrice and Frankie Fodero.
Louise, known for her independent spirit worked at Transvision, Hattie Carnegie Dressmaker in NYC and spent over 20 years working at Macy’s in New Rochelle from which she was retired. Louise and Barrells spent many winters in Naples, Florida where they enjoyed the company of their dear friends Mary and Carmine Daniele and Marie and Matt Gallucci. Louise was a loyal and dedicated friend to the girls she grew up with. She was a member of the “Club Meeting” which met every Wednesday for almost 50 years with Pip, Mary, Sadie, Evie, Angie, Helen, Betty, RoRo, Annette and Penny.
Louise and Barrells were big supporters of the New Rochelle Little League. She was also a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Church and Blessed Sacrament School where she was a volunteer. Louise enjoyed her casino outings with the New Rochelle Seniors and her late friend Frances Malanaphy.
The family would especially like to thank Mary Dwamena and Jeannie Bombace for their care and support over the past several years.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 15 Shea Place in New Rochelle, NY at 10:30am.
