Dorothy A (Kelly) Valle passed away peacefully on November 5th in her home of 80 years. Dorothy was born on May 18, 1940 to parents John and Ethel (McMahon) Kelly. Dorothy was raised in New Rochelle with her siblings Jean (Quigley), James, Elizabeth (Quigley), Marie (Brennan), Margaret (Ortega), John and Thomas.
Dorothy is survived by her children Kenneth, Dorothy (Condro), Carolyn (Scofield), Eileen (Mann) and Joseph. She was preceded in death by her two sons Michael and Thomas. Dorothy was a devoted grandmother of 10, Elizabeth (Condro) Brown, Christina Condro, Jacklyn Mann, Alison Mann, Amanda Mann, Emily Scofield, Joseph Scofield, John Francis Scofield, Nina Valle and Joseph Valle Jr. and one great grandson Austin Brown. She leaves behind a clan of devoted nieces, nephews, and their children.
Dorothy found great comfort and strength in her Catholic faith. She was proud of her Irish heritage and loved to celebrate and dance with her ever growing family. She believed the pen was mightier than the sword and was a gifted writer. She focused on her writing abilities at The College of New Rochelle, where she graduated with honors. Dorothy continued her studies at Iona College where she received her Masters in English, also graduating with honors. Dorothy’s poetry, essays and short stories expressed deep sentiment and intellect often writing about her love of family.
Visitation will be at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle, NY on Sunday, November 8th from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Church 70 Petersville Rd, New Rochelle on Monday, November 9th at 10:00 am.
