Anthony Steven Palumbo

Anthony Steven Palumbo, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, N.Y., died peacefully on April 28, 2020, as a result of complications from Covid-19. He was 86 years old.
He was born on February 24, 1934, in New Rochelle to the late Anthony J. Palumbo and Frances Santangelo Palumbo Abate. He graduated from Albert Leonard High School and was a United States Army veteran, receiving an honorable discharge in 1963. After leaving the military, he built a career in the financial industry, working for several banks in Westchester County and rising to the position of vice treasurer by the time of his retirement.
Anthony professed faith in Jesus Christ and was a lifelong member of The Church of the Holy Family in New Rochelle.
He will be remembered for his love of travel, photography, puzzles, science and gadgets as well as his devotion to the care of his mother, who passed away in 1999. Anthony was a regular reader of “Popular Science” magazine, avidly followed the Apollo moon landings on TV, and in the 1970s would proudly show visitors his automatic typewriter and the custom rubber stamps he made at home with a kit.
In addition to his mother, father and step-father, Frank Abate, Anthony was predeceased by his three siblings: brother Bernard Palumbo and sisters Sylvia DeBarros and Josephine Considine. He is survived by his nephews, Steven Considine and wife Tammy Darling-Considine, Anthony DeBarros and wife Elizabeth DeBarros, and Glenn DeBarros, as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 1, 2020, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.
