Anthony J. Bombace, Jr.

Anthony J. Bombace Jr., a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, N.Y., died peacefully on June 2, 2020, at the age of 88 years old.
He was born on January 17, 1932, in New Rochelle to the late Anthony & Helen Bombace.
Anthony is survived by his wife MaryEllen Bombace, his children George Bombace his wife Joy, Linda Pontillo, Anthony Bombace, his 7 grandchildren, Steven, his wife Lindsay, Lisa, Chastity, Nicky, Kristie, Briana, Andrea and 4 great grandchildren, Robert, Zach, Jayden & Ella. Along with his sister MaryAnne Capossela, He was precessed by his daughters, Cheryl and Debbie, son-in-law Pat Pontillo, brother Jack and Gloria Bombace, Marie & Albert Ottman.
Along with several nieces and nephews, whom he loved all dearly.
Anthony was an Operating Engineer with the NY Union Local #137, for over 42 years.
Anthony was a lifelong faithful member of St. Gabriel’s Church in New Rochelle. Anthony played ball with the minor league system of the NY Giants and also organized & started the New Rochelle Robins Colonial League Baseball team and was their starting first baseman.
Anthony was an avid sports fan, but his true love and passion was for his all-time favorite’s the NY Yankees and NY Knicks. He followed all the players, stats and team scores and if he was not able to watch a game in person, tv, or listen live on radio, he’d follow all the reports on the news. Anthony was also known as Pop’s and Pop-Pop to all his grandchildren, who loved him beyond words. He never missed a beat with any of them and helped to guide them into the wonderful young men & women they are today. He also never ever once missed bringing a smile to their faces when he’d visit by bringing his favorite Dunkin Donuts or candy for them. Anthony truly was an incredible man who devoted his life to his family and brought so much happiness to everyone he met. Anthony will always be well known for his kindness, easy going personality, super generous heart, but mostly for his devotion to his family in keeping them all safe and provided for . Anthony will be greatly missed by so many of his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Ave. Hawthorne, NY 10532
