Ralph “Riff” Nordone

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Ralph “Riff” Nordone, 92, of Mt. Vernon, NY on April 8, 2020. He is survived by his sons, Ralph, Vincent, and Craig Nordone and grandson, Lucien.
He is predeceased by his daughter, Nina; parents Mary & Ralph Nordone; brothers, James, Robert and Dennis; sisters, Mary Lovallo, Annette Janniello, Gilda Farewell, and Irene Lanigan. He is survived by his siblings Dorothy Slater, Barbara Ingrassia, Joan Szabo, Paula Savino, Ronald, Paul and Linda Nordone.
During WWII, Riff served in the U.S. Army with the 88th Division Blue Devils ski patrol as a medic. After the war he joined the Navy and served as a SeaBee and later as a reservist. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion, Post 8, New Rochelle and Post 347,
After military service, Riff toured the country as a singer/guitarist with his band, The Three Townsmen, which later became The Riff Nordone Trio.
His exceptional voice and musicianship were well known to many, particularly in Westchester and the tri-state area.
In addition, Riff worked for the Mt. Vernon Board of Education as master carpenter until his retirement.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no public viewing. He will be laid to rest in Beechwoods Cemetery, New Rochelle, NY. Riff will be dearly missed, loved, and remembered by all who knew him.
