Elvira Arbusto

Elvira Arbusto, long time resident of New Rochelle, New York, passed away on April 18, 2020 at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan, Connecticut. Elvira was born in New Rochelle, New
York on April 24, 1924 to the late Antonio and Maria Napolitano. She had 3 children with her first husband, John George Cioffoletti: Joan Gioiella of Darien CT, John Cioffoletti of Palm
Beach Gardens FL, and Susan Crawford of Greenwich CT. Elvira was humble, caring, and kind and was the last to survive of her 2 brothers and 7 sisters.
After a long successful career as an administrator at the Board of Education in New Rochelle, Elvira spent her winters in Lake Worth FL with her 2nd husband, Frank Arbusto. She was an
avid golfer, having two holes in one in Senior PGA Play. During WWII she sometimes sang with her 3 sisters in a professional group called the Knapp sisters. Elvira was a supporter of the
Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, a member of Il Circolo – the Italian Cultural Society in Palm Beach FL and in Westchester County. She was a devoted parishioner of the Blessed Sacrament
Church in New Rochelle, NY.
Elvira is survived by her three children, Joan (Hank) Gioiella, Darien, CT, John (Betty) Cioffoletti, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Susan Crawford, Greenwich, CT, three grandchildren, David Gioiella, Eric Cioffoletti, Matthew Crawford and three great grandchildren, Luca, Asher and Olivia.
A memorial service to honor Elvira’s life will be announced at a later date. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home and burial will be private.
