On the 17th of April 1971 in Port au prince Haiti, Armand and Ghislain William welcomed to the world their seventh child Marie Elsie Fernand. Ghislain describes her as a bright, energetic and fearless young lady whom everyone in the neighborhood loved. She was likely the hardest working person any of us known. A natural born leader and entrepreneur who owned and led businesses from Haiti to the United States.
After graduating high school among the top of her class, Elsie double majored in college studying Architecture and Journalism all while working for a local news paper company. She would go on to own a general goods market, a construction equipment store, a restaurant and baked good company locally known for its delicious pound cake. She built her three story home from the ground up before eventually moving to the US where she would not slow down. She opened up a general goods store in New Rochelle and continued her careers in the catering, restaurant and hospitality industries.
Every day Elsie put her talents and ambition to work, living her life to the fullest. She inspires us to chase our dreams with fierce determination and faithful devotion. No matter what was going on, Elsie was our source of positivity and sunshine. Popular and adored, she had an empowering presence immediately recognized by everyone she encountered.
On the 2nd of January 2020, God called his angel home. Elsie will forever be in our hearts. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She gave all of herself to those she loved. Elsie leaves behind her mother Ghislaine Albert, her two daughters Deborah William and Katiana Devine, her son-in-law Freddy J Diaz, her grandchildren Fredrick A Diaz and Deborah J Diaz, her siblings Rosie Thevenin, Dany Delva, Yesmine Charles, Jose William, Frantz William, Sonia Maturen, Raymond William and many more family members and friends.
Marie Elsie Fernand William has left us too soon. She will forever be in our hearts and never be forgotten. Today we celebrate her passionate life and all of the cherished memories she has left with us.
