Isabel C. Avitabile was born on March 24, 1930 in Greenville, PA and was raised in Puerto Rico. She worked for Pan American Airlines as a stewardess for several years until she met her husband Andrew and settled down to raise their five children. She was a longtime resident of New Rochelle and passed away at the age of 89 on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.
Isabel is predeceased by her husband Andrew, daughter Suzanne and son Louis. She is survived by her son Thomas, his wife Maryann, Daughter Andrea, her husband Angelo, daughter Isabel, her husband Raymond, as well as her beloved grandchildren Steven, his wife Melanie, Justin, his wife Pria, Angelo, his wife Amanda, Kristen, Andrew, Alexandra, Thomas and two great grandchildren Gavin and Amelia.
Isabel had a ready smile and an open heart and was thought of as “Mom” by many of her children’s friends. She touched the lives and hearts of so many. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her love will live on in the hearts of her family.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital in Isabel’s name.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. 16 Shea Pl. New Rochelle, NY 10805. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday 10:30am at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
