Anna M. Caruso, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on September 5, 2019. She was 88.
Anna was born on December 16, 1930 in Francavilla Angitola, Italy to the late Joseph and Raffaela (Parisi) Pallone. She moved from Italy to New Rochelle at the age of 7, and graduated from Albert Leonard High School in 1949, where she received multiple awards for shorthand and typing. After marrying the love of her life, she dedicated herself to managing her home and taking care of her family. Over the years, she also found talents in the career world, working as a office secretary, a gym teacher, a shop owner, a jewelry saleswoman, and later in life, a secretary for Dr. Cirillo’s medical practice in New Rochelle for over 20 years.
She is survived by her children: Al Caruso and Katharine Simmons of Acton MA, Elaine and Don Terwilliger of West Seneca NY, Stephen and Denise Caruso of New Rochelle NY, Catherine Broeckel of Woodridge NY, Vincent and Clara Mae Caruso of Lawrenceville NJ; grandchildren: Caroline, Emily, Mikayla, Melissa, Ella, Jaclyn, Anne, Stephen, Cristiana, Chad, Jessica, Sarah, Albert, Christine; great grandchildren: Cora, Abigail, Ryan, Amelia, Nathan, Kendall, Jocelyn; and her brother John and Maria Victoria Pallone. She was predeceased by her husband Albert, her son-in-law Ralph Broeckel, Sr., and her brother Foca Pallone.
Anna was an avid tennis and bridge player and will be missed by her many friends. She was also skilled at knitting, crocheting, and sewing, and produced many hand-made sweaters and blankets for her family and friends.
Visiting will be Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A Mass is scheduled for Monday 10:30am at Holy Family Church. Interment will be private.
