Alphonsus L. Farry, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on July 11, 2019. He was 86.
Al was born on July 24, 1932 in Ballymote, Co. Sligo, Ireland to the late Bernard and Mary (Gilmartin) Farry.
He was a Transportation and Security Manager for Longines-Wittnauer where he worked for 37 years. He was a member of the Davenport Club; longtime member of the Irish Benevolent Society. He was active in the New Rochelle Democratic Party as a District Leader and Ward Leader. He founded the Blessed Sacrament Blood Bank and ran it for over 40 years.
He was predeceased by his wife the former Bernadette Clarkin who died November 23, 2003. He is survived by his loving son Paul and his wife Lynn; his two grandchildren Connor and Aideen; his brothers Neal Farry and Brian Farry and sister Carmel Mullen. He is also survived by his partner of many happy years Evelyn Ghiorzi.
Visiting hours will be Sunday 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Church, Pelham Manor, NY.
