John J. Ruccolo, 90, passed away surrounded by family at home on April 19, 2019 in New Rochelle, NY.
John is a lifetime resident of New Rochelle, and served in the U.S. Army for four years during the Korean War. Upon his return home, he worked as a New Rochelle firefighter and was promoted to Lieutenant and remained on the department for 34 years.
John leaves behind his beloved wife, Nicolina “Nikki” Ruccolo, of 62 years. He also leaves behind four children, John Ruccolo (Lisa); Carol Barrella (Jack); Maria Viccaro; and Barbara Cotturone (John).
He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Jaimee Ruccolo; Tara Reardon (David); Haley Viccaro; Jake Barrella; and Conner Barrella, along with his loving nieces, Maryellen Funicello-Kardias and Linda Funicello.
John was predeceased by his three siblings, brother Louis Ruccolo (Marie); and sisters Christine Signorilla (Reno), and Clementine Funicello (Anthony).
John was a big Mets fan, always watching the games on TV, and enjoyed seeing them play on the field with his grandsons. He also enjoyed playing golf for many years with his buddies. John was a lover of Frank Sinatra, often listening to his music.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Monday April 22nd at the Holy Name of Jesus Church at 70 Petersville Road in New Rochelle, NY. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations to Calvary Hospice.
