Carmella M. Rosamonda, 93, passed away peacefully on Dec. 8, after a brief illness.
She was born and raised in New Rochelle, to Margaret & Henry Camardella. Carmella attended and graduated from Albert Leonard High School where she met the love of her life, Patsy L. Rosamonda.
After he returned from WW II, they were married in June 1947. In 1974, the family moved to the Chester Heights section of Mount Vernon. After over 47 years of marriage, her lifelong partner, Patsy passed away in 1994.
For many years, Carmella worked for the Big Top chain of stores in Wykagyl and was affectionately known as “Connie” to staff and customers alike. Carmella loved to cook & bake and spend time with her family. She loved to knit and gifted many with beautiful Afghans, baby blankets and hats that she so enjoyed making. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth and Patricia, and a sister, Kathryn Codella. She is predeceased by her sisters, Nicoletta Giustino, Assunta Italiano, Gloria Panico and a brother Henry Camardella.
Visitation will be at Sisto & Paino Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 2 – 4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, at Holy Family Church,on Mayflower Avenue at 10:30am
