Richard “Jack” Cole, 83, passed away in his sleep surrounded by his
loving Family on Friday, November 17, 2018 at Calvary Hospital in the
Bronx, New York. He was born July 9, 1935 to John and Gladys Cole in
Clayton, New York and grew up in Watertown, NY. On November 9, 1963 he
married Elizabeth Fitzpatrick.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth; his son, Robert Cole (Joann) of
Yorktown Heights, his two daughters, Elizabeth Cole of New Rochelle and
Eileen Johnson of Scranton, Pennsylvania; his sister, Florence Lyng of
Pulaski, NY, his brother, Earl Cole of Clayton, NY, His Sister and
Brother- in- law, Eileen & Paul Pallett of Pelham Manor, NY,
grandchildren Mark and Kristen Johnson and Alexa and Amanda Cole; as
well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Jack was a loving
husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers Ed Cole, Robert Cole
and his beloved dogs; Sheba, King & Max.
Jack was a retired lieutenant of the New Rochelle Fire Department and
was President of the Uniformed Fire Fighters Union for several of those
years. He was married to his loving wife, Elizabeth for 55 years. He was
also a Marine (Korean Conflict) and an active member of the New Rochelle
Elks. He was an avid bowler but somehow always managed to miss the “5”
pin. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching the NY Giants
and Rangers. He also enjoyed reading and was an expert with the
crossword puzzles. Jack was always there to help friends with whatever
they needed him for.
Visiting will be held on Tuesday, November 20th from 4:00 until 9:00
p.m. with a service at 7pm at the Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, Inc., 16 Shea Pl., New Rochelle. Interment will be private.
