Allison James

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, and grandmother, Allison Joy James, at age 68. A longtime resident of New Rochelle, Allison died on Sunday, October 21, 2018. Allison was born on July 31, 1950 to the late Richard and Susan Harris in Brown’s Hall, St Catherine, Jamaica.
Allison was a devoted and selfless mother, dedicated teacher, and generous caregiver, and community member whose charm, laughter and love were ever present during her lifetime, and will remain in our hearts forever. Allison, who was a teacher by profession in her native Jamaica, positively impacted the lives of numerous students. After migrating to New York she worked as a nurse and caregiver. Her dedication and care to her patients was genuine and undeniable.
Allison took great joy in surrounding herself with flowering plants, or a garden that she took pride in nurturing. This is very instructive as people with whom she came into contact also flourished, in much the same way as the plants she loved. Allison was a fun-loving woman who had a passion for music and dance. She was also an ardent sports fan, especially of basketball, football, and athletics.
Allison will be dearly missed by her children, Claudine, Erika, Aceion and Marsha, and her four grandchildren, Courtenay, Reagan, Rickurt and Rivanya, her sister Cicely, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Allison left beautiful memories which will be cherished by her family and friends.
Visiting will be on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 am, at Trinity Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 311 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle, New York 10801.
The funeral service to celebrate the life, work and legacy of Allison Joy James will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018, at 11:00 am, at Trinity Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 311 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle with Father, Robert E. Gahler, officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery, 215 North Street, Rye, New York 10580.
