Antonio Rizzo

Antonio Rizzo, 75 years old, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Saturday morning, October 20, surrounded by his three children, wife of 51 years, and family members.
Antonio was born to the late Giuseppe and Laura (Loiacono) Rizzo on May 23, 1943 in the small town of Drapia (Calabria), Italy. When he was 8 years old he and some family members emigrated to Villa Bosch (Buenos Aires), Argentina in search of a better life. In 1967 he emigrated once again with some siblings, this time to New Rochelle, NY, where he met his future wife Giuseppina Capparelli and they were married on July 15, 1967.
He leaves as his legacy three children: Anthony (Loretta) Rizzo, Robert Rizzo and Laura Rizzo. Along with 5 grandchildren: Sofia, Jack, Ella, Liliana and Leonardo. He also leaves behind his siblings Mannina (Italy), Caterina (Argentina), Armida (New Rochelle) and Miguel (New Rochelle) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Antonio was predeceased by his siblings Serafino, Pasquale, Maria, Gerardo, Gioconda, and Itolo.
As a steel factory foreman, Antonio “Tony” had many technical abilities and could fix almost anything. But it was during the weekends when his friends and family would benefit from his talented self-taught skills in carpentry, plumbing, tiling, electrical and auto mechanics. He never let a person down when they asked for his help and being trilingual he made some great friendships over the years. He also had a passion for travel and never missed the opportunity to see new sights. He loved tending to his garden, eating fresh fruits right off the plant and having countless parties on his porch. His family will remember his warm and giving heart, his commitment to helping others and his love for his family across the globe.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018 from 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy’s Funeral Home, 16 Shea Pl., New Rochelle NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018 at 10:30am at Holy Family Church, 83 Mayflower Ave., New Rochelle. Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery, Harrison.
Special thanks to all the dedicated staff at Fresenius Kidney Care Soundshore Dialysis Center for their extraordinary care during his treatment over the past four years.
