Born September 8, 1933, Tony is predeceased by his beloved wife Merilyn, and his parents, Mary Vettorino Pucillo and Antonio Pucillo. Dearest “Pop” to his nine grandchildren Thomas and Meredith Addison, Lily and Hannah Schenk, Louis, Alex and Dylan DelCueto, Jack and John Pucillo.
Tony hailed from a large family in Mount Vernon NY. Sisters Carmela Blasie and Josephine Franzese also pre-deceased him. Tony is also survived by siblings Louis Pucillo, Dusolina Pucillo, Emilio Pucillo, Rita Roque, and Peter Pucillo, along with dozens of nieces and nephews.
Tony graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1956 with a degree in Architecture. His 5 years at Notre Dame fueled a lifelong passion for the travails of the Fighting Irish. It also shaped him as an individual, Tony embodied Notre Dame’s teachings; where words are buttressed by one’s deeds and deeds are inspired by one’s convictions.
Tony served in the US Army after college and had a long successful career as a municipal architect in New York State. He was greatly influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, in addition to office buildings and nursing homes throughout Westchester, Tony’s buildings in New Rochelle can be found on the campus of Iona College, the College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle Police Station and New Rochelle High School. Like Christopher Wren, Tony’s epitaph is “si monumentum requiris, circumspice”—if you are searching for his monument, look around.
Tony had a long-term dedicated team of caregivers Jackie, Gilbert, Mohammed, Kay, and Hazel, who were so devoted to him. Our family is eternally grateful for their support and love of our father.
