Patricia T. Strollo

Patricia Strollo, age 87, passed away on May 30,2018. She was the first child of the late Alys Barker Taylor and Charles Thomas Taylor of New Rochelle, on March 17,1931.

She attended school in New Rochelle and graduated from Albert Leonard High School in 1949. She was an active member of the G.O., Chorus, Traffic Squad, Honor Society, High Lights Yearbook Staff and Red Cross.

She was well known for her Secretarial and Stenographic skills and wanted to pursue a career in the field. She won First Place and was the Gold Medal Award Winner for best transcription in a 120 word-a-minute shorthand competition in the 28th Annual Gregg Shorthand Contest, held at Hunter College. She attended evening classes at Hunter College after graduating.

She grew up spending many summers in Washington State where her and her mother would travel by train to visit her father while is was on leave from the US Navy, where is was a Chief Quartermaster.

In 1953 Pat married the love of her life, the handsome John F. Strollo Jr., at Blessed Sacrament Church and the ceremony was performed by Monsignor Shea. They raised 3 children, Diane Briganti of Katonah NY, Lynn Smith of Denver CO, and John Christopher Strollo of New Rochelle NY. Pat and John lived in their home on Petersville Road in New Rochelle for over 50 years.

She is also the proud grandmother of Joseph Briganti of South Salem NY, Robert Briganti of Boynton Beach FL, David Briganti of Fishers IN, and Leighann Strollo of Indianapolis IN.

Patricia worked for the City of New Rochelle from 1963 through 1993 when she retired from her position as Executive Secretary to the Fire Commissioner of New Rochelle. She worked for both Chief Bell and Chief Kiernan in that position.

Throughout her life she volunteered for many organizations, including Holy Name Church and School, East End Civic Association and New Rochelle Hospital.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her, and thank friends for all the prayers and well wishes at this time. One of Pat’s passions was to help save the lives of dogs and cats in animal shelters. In lieu of flowers donations in her name to The Humane Society would be appreciated.

Visiting will be Monday 10:45- 12:45am at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday 1pm at Blessed Sacarament Church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
