Luisa Viccaro, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on April 14, 2018. She was 95.
Luisa was born on October 25, 1922 in Santa Lucia Di Serino, Avellino. Italy to the late Vito and Arcangela (Gaita) DePiano.
She worked as a skilled Seamstress for many years and later as one of the Chefs at her husband’s family’s restaurant “Viccaro’s” on Union Avenue in New Rochelle. She belonged to the Holy Rosary Society at St. Joseph’s Church. She loved her garden and was an avid knitter, bingo player and enjoyed traveling.
She was predeceased by her husband Peter who died in 1993.
She is survived by 4 children: Virginia (Steven) Staugaitis, Mauro (Holly) Viccaro, Peter (Gayle) Viccaro and Lisa (Peter) Zambelletti; her 9 grandchildren; her 6 great-grandchildren and her 2 sisters: Olga Mastroberadino and Suor Maria Chiara. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Fred. She was loved by all and will be sorely missed.
Visiting will be Thursday 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s Church. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 30 Milestone Road Danbury, CT 06810.
