James A. Sabia Sr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on March 16, 2018 at White Plains Hospital after a short illness.
He was born on May 17, 1935 in New Rochelle to Carmela & Frank Sabia. Jim graduated from New Rochelle High School. He married his childhood sweetheart Alba Gallello of New Rochelle in 1957. He worked for the Post Office for 30 years and was a skilled carpenter. He loved all sports and was an avid Yankee fan. He enjoyed cooking and baking with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his three children, Frank (Beth), James (Brooke) and Susan (Ray) Griffin, and six grandchilden: Kristen Griffin, Kaila Sabia, James Sabia III, Alexandra Sabia, Nicholas Sabia and William Cole Sabia.
He was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters. He is survived by three sisters, Mary Fastiggi, Vincenza Morgante, and Pauline Marcotrigiano.
Visiting will be Sunday 2-7pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A Mass is scheduled for Monday at 11:00am at St. Catharine’s church in Pelham, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
