Dominick Bruzzese, 99, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018.
Dominick was born in New Rochelle, NY on January 20, 1919. He graduated from New Rochelle High School, and then enlisted in the United States Army and served in the 16th Air Depot Group. He was a veteran of World War II, receiving an honorable discharge in November of 1945. Military awards include the American Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. After returning home, Dominick became a police officer for his hometown city, New Rochelle. Dominick rose to the position of Lieutenant in the City of New Rochelle Police Department, retiring in 1980 after a distinguished career. Dominick loved the city of New Rochelle, and over the years, has donated collections of historical photos of the city to the New Rochelle Public Library.
Dominick is survived by his two children, Charles Bruzzese and Katherine Tierney, their spouses, and their children. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean, and by his parents, two sisters (Anna and Emily) and brother (Alfred). A private burial is planned at Beechwoods Cemetery.
