Anthony J. Nardozzi

Anthony J. Nardozzi Sr., 97, passed away peacefully on March 15,2018 at the United Hebrew Geriatric Center(“UHGC”) in New Rochelle.
He was born in New Rochelle to Domenico and Catherine (Bochicchio) Nardozzi.
Anthony graduated from Issac Young High School and served his country as a navigator on the army fighter plane, “Sad Sack”, a B-24. Anthony’s plane was shot down over Germany and he spent 16 months as a POW, earning him a purple heart. Anthony was a “True American Hero”
Upon his return home to New Rochelle, Anthony married Marie Corigliano. Even though they lived around the corner from each other as children, they did not meet, until Tony’s sister Lucy asked her friends to write her brother letters while he was a POW. Marie wrote to him regularly, and when he got home they finally met, and fell in love.
They remained married for 49 years, until Marie’s death in 1996.
He was predeceased by his brothers Rocco and Joseph, and sisters Carmella and Mary Costa.
He is survived by his children, Dominick, Francine, (Anthony) DeBellis, Anthony Jr. (Bonnie Silverman) and Diane(Bill) Manning, his loving sister Lucy Nardozzi.
Anthony (Papa), also is survived by 11 grandchildren Jenica, Alexis, John, Nadya, Tanya, Tiffany, Kerri, Alyssa, Samantha, Ashley and Danielle, and 2 great-granddaughters Illiana and Londyn. His biggest enjoyment was when they were in his presence and made each one of them feel special. He was very proud of all of them.
He is also survived by 18 Nieces and Nephews, who always had a special place in his heart.
The last 9 years Anthony lived life to its fullest, at the UHGC. He became an ambassador for The Home. He always had a smile to share with staff, and fellow residents. The family would like to thank the amazing staff and administration of the UHGC for the care and devotion you gave to Tony Sr.
Visiting will be Sunday 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A Mass is scheduled for Monday at 10:30am at Holy Name Church, 75 Lispenard Ave, New Rochelle, NY 10801. Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery, 179 Beechwood Ave. New Rochelle, NY 10801
