Raymond T. Hyland

Raymond Hyland, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on October 16, 2017. He was 65. Raymond was born on June 29, 1952 in Brooklyn to the late John and Anne Kelly Hyland. Ray graduated from Bishop Loughlin High School in 1970 and moved to New Rochelle where he graduated from Iona College in 1974 and met his wife Barbara. Together, they raised three children; Courtney, Stephen, and Matthew. Ray was deeply devoted to guiding the youth of New Rochelle through his work with the New Rochelle Boys and Girls Club and Parks and Rec. His passion was coaching the New Rochelle Little League as well as Holy Family basketball. Ray was inducted into the Iona College Hall of Fame for basketball in 2002 and is set to be inducted into the New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday October 26, 2017. He was a safety supervisor for Pro Safety in New Rochelle for many years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Fegan; his children Courtney Hyland, Stephen (Kathryn) Hyland, and Matthew Hyland; his two grandchildren Jackson and Riley: his sisters Ellen Higgins, MaryAnn DiVeglio, Patricia Smith, Regina Flanary, Bernadette McCraken; his brothers Jack, Christopher and Thomas Hyland. He was predeceased by his brother Brian Hyland.
Visiting hours are Thursday 7-9pm and Friday 2-4 and 7-9pm at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A Mass is scheduled for Saturday 9:30am at Holy Family Church.
