Ian M. Longua., 44, of Rye, New York, formerly of Nashua, New Hampshire passed away unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, July 19, 2017.
Ian was born to William “Bill” and Marguerite “Meg” Longua on August 26, 1972 in New Rochelle, New York. Ian is survived by his sons, Zachary and Bryce Longua, his mother, Meg Longua, his sister, Courtney Longua, and his girlfriend, Kate Sheils Taubner and her son, Jack.
Born and raised in New Hampshire, Ian spent most of his childhood at Nashua Swim and Tennis. As the son of a tennis professional, he played tennis for virtually his entire life. He learned all aspects of the sport from his father, the former Head Pro at Palm Island Resort in Florida. From 7th grade until his graduation in 1990, he played varsity tennis at Nashua High School. He then played tennis for Concordia College and was ranked in the top 10 in the nation all four years. After graduating from college, Ian worked as an Assistant Tennis Pro at Sunningdale Country Club, followed by teaching at Bronxville Field Club, American Yacht Club, and Rye Racquet Club. He became Head Tennis Professional at Scarsdale Golf Club in 2007, and was promoted to head Racquets Professional in 2014. In addition to running successful youth and adult programs, Ian was an avid sportsman who played tournament paddle, competing in the nationals. He was well known throughout the paddle and tennis community in Westchester and will leave a void on the courts.
A Memorial Service celebrating Ian’s life is being held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. 16 Shea Pl New Rochelle, NY.
