Elisa “Lisette” Campanile, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on July 25, 2017.She was 93, born on August 16, 1923 in Belluno, Italy to the late Erasmo and Maria (David) Sacchet. She was a teacher in Italy before coming to this country at the end of 1945. She married Anthony “Tony” Campanile, an American soldier, on September 22, 1945, in Northern Italy, at the end of World War II. He predeceased her on December 6, 2006. She is survived by her children Rosemarie Marino, Anthony Campanile and Maria Alberico and predeceased by an infant daughter, Carmen. She leaves behind 7grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Gaetano and predeceased by bothers Mario and Angelo, all of Belluno, Italy.
Lisette was active in the Hugh Doyle Senior Center and was a donor and communicant of St. Pius X Church. She was an excellent homemaker, cook, gardener and a prolific knitter. She loved to travel and made many visits to Italy and Florida in her lifetime.
The family will receive visitors on Monday July 31, from 10:0 AM – 11:30 AM at Llyod Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. 16 Shea Place New Rochelle. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 12 noon at St. Pius X Church, 91 Secor Rd, Scarsdale, NY. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) in her memory. Your thoughts and donations are much appreciated but the family wishes no flowers to be sent.
