Emma J. Telesco

Emma Josephine (Giorno) Telesco, 90, lifelong resident of New Rochelle, NY passed onto heaven on May 26, 2017. Emma was loved by many and gave love back to the world. Her soul lifted the spirits of people who passed her for a moment and also those she kept close to her heart. Her smile had the potential to light up a world and her famous “meatballs” kept everyone stuffed. Her talents definitely involved cooking, but her biggest talent of all was how warm her heart was and still is as she rises in the sky.
Emma was born in January 21st, 1927 in New Rochelle Hospital. She graduated from Columbus High School and continued on to obtain her degree in Medical Assistance. She then worked as the voice behind New Rochelle Medical Center in the switchboard. Emma also worked in sales and was frequently applauded for her work ethic. Emma worked hard until she was 83 years old and did so with incredible strength and will to keep moving forward. She also found joy in going to parks, reading the famous Danielle Steel books. She never missed the numbers as they played every night. The “Wheel of Fortune” was her favorite show even if she dozed off to it. She was active in many charities throughout her 90 years. Frequently attending mass and donating to charities for women and children such as “Save the Children”. Often receiving pins for her donations, she liked to keep them on her dresser as she was so proud of being able to give back. Emma always kept others in her prayers and always prayed her rosaries before bed thanking the Lord for each day he gave her life.
Emma joined Peter Telesco in marriage in August 1948; they were married for 62 years. Her loyalty to and nurturing soul to her husband kept the marriage strong. Side by side they conquered life at its head. Her determination and resilience was internally driven by the love she had for those she took care of and kept close to her heart.
Above all she was a devoted mother to Kenneth Telesco and loyal wife to Peter Telesco. Emma’s proudest achievement was watching the growth of her grandchild, Amy Michelle Telesco. Always seated in the front row to skating competitions and events. Her presence was always cherished as she was such a positive and supportive role model in everyones life especially her grandaughter, Amy.
Emma taught those to be gentle, kind and to always put others before oneself. Emma was happiest with her whole family together in the same house in celebration and often referred to it as “beautiful”. She always cherished the importance of family as she watched herniece and nephews grow and she took great pride in being able to watch her great nieces too.
Emma is preceded in death by both her father, Charles Giorno and mother Rose Giorno. Her husband, Peter Telesco and brothers, Joseph and Frank Giorno.
Emma is survived by her sister, Pricilla Quatroni and her son, Kenneth Peter Telesco. Her granddaughter, Amy and her nephews and niece, Anthony Quatroni, Steven Quatroni and Melissa Quatroni. She was also survived by her great nieces, Alexandra, Gianna and Nicole and other family and friends.
