Marie’s career started in 1947 with the Visiting Nurse Association and included stints working as a school nurse for the New Rochelle school system and teaching nursing at Bronx Community College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Mercy College. She retired from Mercy College as an associate professor, after helping the school’s nursing program secure accreditation to grant a 4-year baccalaureate R.N. degree.
Marie was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She played an active role in the New Rochelle Women’s Club in the 1960s, and was a Cub Scouts den mother for many years. She was an avid reader, loved the beach, and had many lifelong friends.
