Tony Fazio was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and pastor to many. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ early in the morning on Wednesday, January 25th 2017. Tony was born on August 10th, 1922 in the town of Fabrizia, Calabria in Italy. At the age of thirteen he moved to New Rochelle, New York with his parents and sisters.
Tony often reflected on the defining moment of his life, the evening he gave his heart to Jesus. On the first Sunday of 1949 he went to church to please his uncle and followed the Lord for the rest of his days. He attended Elim Bible Institute in Lima, New York.
Tony met his bride, Virginia (Jean) later that year and they married on November 20, 1949. Tony and Jean raised their family on Third Street in New Rochelle. He spent his days working as a tailor in New Rochelle and many of his evenings in attendance at church services and prayer meetings.
Tony later became the pastor of Full Gospel Tabernacle in White Plains, New York. He enjoyed spending many Sunday afternoons with his children and grandchildren. His greatest passion was for the Lord and longed to one day meet His Savior. Though those who knew him mourn the loss of this dearly loved man, they also rejoice that the Lord has welcomed him home.
Tony is predeceased by his sisters, Catherine Care, Cecelia Bava, and Josephine Esposito. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Columbo) Fazio and their three sons, Paul (Irene) Fazio of Danbury, Connecticut, John Fazio of New Rochelle and David (Maria) Fazio of New Rochelle. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Fazio, Melissa (Sean) McGuckin, Laura Fazio, Francesca Fazio, and Nicholas Fazio.
Visiting will be on Friday from 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, Inc., 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle. A service is scheduled on Saturday 10am at the funeral home. Interment Beechwoods Cemetery.
