Angelina “Ann” Bernabei

Angelina Bernabei, (nee Sylvester) a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2017. She was 91.
Ann was born on January 13, 1926 in New Rochelle to the late Angelo and Filomena (Loungo) Silvestro. She graduated from Albert Leonard High School. On Nov. 25, 1945 Ann married the love of her life, Louis “Red” Bernabei. Together they raised their three children, Patricia Bernabei Anderson (Peter), Frank (Rita) and Louis, Jr. (Michelle). Ann was the doting, proud grandmother of Lisa JoAnn Munoz (Carlos), Lynn Frances, Diane Cara, and Adrienne Bernabei. She was the loving great grandmother of Henry Francis Munoz.
Louis and Ann, world travelers, were passionate ballroom dancers. Ann, an accomplished tailor, could be found every Sunday at New Rochelle’s Holy Name of Jesus Church in the usher’s pew which had been dedicated to her husband. She also was an original member of the church’s choir.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis “Red” and her 3 sisters Rose Sylvester, Marie Costanza, and Nicholina Shelton.
A special thank you to Deloris Stephenson for her loving care of Ann. Anyone who knew Ann would know an angel has gone to heaven.
Visiting will be Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday at10:30am at Holy Name Church. Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery. Sisto & Paino Inc. Directors 914-636-4938
